On September 2, 2026, the Federal Senate approved Bill No. 2,780/2024, which establishes the National Policy on Critical and Strategic Minerals (PNMCE) and creates the National Council for the Industrialization of Critical and Strategic Minerals (CIMCE). The bill will now proceed to presidential sanction. It sets out guidelines for the development of Brazil’s mineral value chain and introduces approval mechanisms for certain corporate transactions and agreements involving critical and strategic minerals.
